Best buy had an AudioQuest HDMI cable on their site tuesday that was obscenely expensive. Of the 15-ish customer reviews only 2 had any real feedback, all of which shared the same basic principal: why the hell would you spend upwards of $1700 on an HDMI cable? Reading them was quite entertaining. Knowing my copywritng co-worker would get a kick out of this i sent it along and yep, he threw up his own review. It was so funny I was near tears but sadly Best Buy took the whole page down – product and all – mere hours later. Boo!

So I decided to post it here because it deserves to be heard. Too bad Google’s cached version of the page doesn’t have all the reviews because they were also worth saving.

Great Application Flexibility

I will agree that, I too, balked at the seemingly high price of what I now consider the most useful cable I have ever purchased.

It all started with the delivery driver, whose truck had broke down in front of my house. I used this “miracle cable” to replace his timing belt and we drove together to his company service facility.

Once I regained ownership… although who can own such a divine, obviously self-aware, cable… I hitched a ride back home, using the cable to perform old cowboy rope tricks alongside the highway as a way to engage someone enough to pull over. The cable once again came into to use when I had to defend myself from the driver.

“This things is handy,” I said to myself (and then to the cable, which requires near constant admiration to be able to manifest itself in the past…oh yeah, this cable is obviously from the hyper-economically-inflated future.. duh).

When I made my way home I was all set to hook up my “hi-def” rig. Turns out that someone had broken in and stole my home theater gear. Gosh.

“What a day,” I said to myself (and then to the cable, who likes to be included in conversations).

So, tired from such a crazy/miraculous day, I decided to take the cable out to a romantic dinner at Applebee’s. Even though we were asked to leave (the cable has a real problem with a lack of iced tea refills), it was easily the most natural, rewarding date ever.

That was over 60 years ago and my beloved wife, the AudioQuest 26.3” HDMI Cable- White, is long gone. I will cherish our time together and feel the warm digital love that we shared every single day when I gaze into the eyes of our horribly mutated, cable/human grandchildren
