Techno on the deeper side

Stephen Schieberl was born in Milan, Italy on December 6, 1977 and is now living in Portland, Oregon. He took the moniker “Let’s Go Outside” as a tribute to his fascination with outdoor activities, most notably parachuting. Shieberl started DJing and producing electronic music as a teenager in the early nineties in southern California. His music straddles many different styles; evidence of having grown up with a wide variety of influences. There are hints of IDM, techno, ambient, electro, house, etc, but never lands squarely on one genre. The end result is a complex-yet-intuitive mixture of all forms of electronic music, layered atop heavy bass and unshakable hooks, combined to create something new, yet strangely familiar.

He was signed by Glasgow-based Soma Quality Recordings in 2006, receiving support from luminaries such as Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier and Ivan Smagghe. He followed up early releases and remixes with the 2008 release of his debut full-length, A Picnic with the Hunters, paired with a successful European tour performing for sold out crowds at popular venues like Fabric, The Loft, The Arches and Sub Club. 2009 saw the release of his second album on Soma, Conversations With My Invisible Friends. After eighteen appearances on the label he’s shifted focus to his own imprint, Slant Records.
