A perfectly mixed and very dancable session of house with distinct tech flavors

Cynthia Valenti (aka The Perfect Cyn) has been instigating trouble on dancefloors since 2002.  A founding member of Portland’s Sexy Robot Music movement, Valenti is now an integral part of Alga Rhythms.  Originally starting as a recurring newsletter created to keep the people informed on electronic music events in and around the NW, it has since taken a new shape with emphasis extended to events. Alga Rhythm’s mission is to create events and experiences by constantly moving location and evolving form to become the most unbelievable, unrepeatable experiences possible.

Raised in the Chicagoland area of Indiana, Valenti experienced the disco/house transition of the early 80s and the house/rave transition in the early 90s, but she waited to purchase gear and teach herself to DJ until she moved to Portland, OR in 2000. She attributes the encouragement to move from spectator to participant solely to Portland’s positive attitude toward women in music of all forms. Her life bears witness to a love story between a girl and music of all kinds: from the Beatles to AC/DC, Kraftwerk, Bikini Kill and Underworld.

Currently she is resident DJ and music director at the Portland establishment Saucebox, hosting her Unclassified Series, which also airs every 1st and 3rd Friday at 11am PST on WK radio.  Tune in here:  www.wk.com/wke/radio
